Our commitment
AFL wants every shipper, carrier and visitor to be able to use averyfreight.com, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use. We design and test the Site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, the current standard from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 Level AA is our target, and the places where we know the Site falls short of it are listed under Known limits. We review the Site against it ourselves as we build, and we fix each barrier we find as quickly as we can.
What we do
- Every page of the Site opens with a “Skip to main content” link and shows a clear focus outline, and its pages, menus and forms work with a keyboard.
- Text and controls are designed to meet WCAG AA color contrast on the Site’s dark background.
- Pages reflow for phones, tablets and zoomed-in browser windows.
- If your device asks to reduce motion, the Site holds its moving backgrounds still and reduces its other animations: slideshows show their first photo, videos show their first frame, and the home page shows its motto as plain text.
- The home page’s five-stage photo story moves on its own at first. It stops as soon as you use its arrows, its dashes or a swipe, press its keys or tab into its controls, and it stays where you leave it. If your device asks to reduce motion, it never moves on its own.
- In the desktop menu, the arrow beside Over-the-Road and Supply Chain is a button: press Enter or Space to open the list of services, Tab through them, and press Escape to close it.
- Buttons and links on touch screens are sized to be easy to tap.
- Form fields have visible labels, and whenever the Site asks for your cookie choices, the banner and the settings dialog work with keyboards and screen readers.
- We check the Site ourselves with automated accessibility tests, keyboard-only use and a wide range of screen sizes.
Known limits
- Moving backgrounds. The photos and videos behind page headings, and the rotating words on the home page, repeat for as long as you stay on the page, and they have no pause button. Your device’s reduce-motion setting holds them still; on most devices it is under Settings, in Accessibility, under Motion or Display. If movement on any page makes it hard to use, call or email us and we will give you the information another way.
- The shipment-tracking portal linked from the Site runs on our transportation-management software provider’s platform. If any part of it is hard to use, call us and we will give you your shipment’s status by phone or email.
- The security check on the quote and carrier setup forms is Cloudflare’s Turnstile. Most visitors never see it; if it asks you to confirm you are a person and you cannot complete it, call us and we will take your quote or carrier setup request by phone.
Tell us about a barrier

We aim to reply within two business days, and in the meantime we will give you the information or service you need another way, such as by phone.
