Protecting you from freight fraud
Freight fraud is rising across the industry. Criminals pose as brokers and carriers with lookalike email addresses and websites, fake rate confirmations, stolen MC numbers and requests to change where payments go. AFL’s registration and contact details are listed here, so you can confirm that you are dealing with us before you act.
How to confirm it is AFL
- Registration: AFL is listed with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration as C-NA WORLDWIDE LLC, doing business as AVERY FREIGHT LINES: USDOT 3990619, MC-1496960, a licensed broker of property other than household goods, so an offer to move a household’s belongings in AFL’s name comes from someone else. Check our FMCSA SAFER record (opens in new tab). The name, address and phone on that record match this page.
- Email: AFL email comes from addresses ending in @averyfreight.com. Older messages, signatures and documents may show our former email domain, @shipcna.com. Check the full address, not only the display name, and look closely for swapped or extra letters. Invoices, rate confirmations and tracking requests can also come through the software platforms we use for billing, carrier setup and tracking; call us at the number on this page before you act on any payment change.
- Website: our website is averyfreight.com. The Track a Shipment button on this site opens our shipment-tracking portal at averyfreightlines.taicloud.net (opens in new tab), run by our transportation-management software provider.
- Phone: our office number is (909) 918-5477, the same number on our FMCSA SAFER record. Use the number on this page or on that record, never one taken from an email or signature, to confirm any request.
Payment and remittance changes
Before you change where you send or receive payment for any load arranged by AFL, call us at (909) 918-5477, even if the request looks like it came from us.
Treat these as warning signs: an urgent request to change bank details, a new account in a different name, or a request to pay by gift card, cryptocurrency or a payment app.
For carriers
AFL offers every load under its own name, USDOT 3990619 and MC-1496960. If anyone offers you an AFL load and something seems off, such as a changed pickup location, a rush to dispatch or an unfamiliar contact, call us at (909) 918-5477 before you dispatch. AFL sets up carriers through Highway, from averyfreight.com/carriers or an invitation Highway sends in AFL’s name. If a message asks you to set up with AFL anywhere else, call us at (909) 918-5477 before you send anything.
Report fraud
- To AFL: call (909) 918-5477 or email support@averyfreight.com with what you received, including the sender’s full email address or phone number.
- To the FMCSA: file a complaint in the National Consumer Complaint Database (opens in new tab).
- To the FBI: report internet fraud to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) (opens in new tab).
- More steps: the FMCSA’s guidance on broker and carrier fraud and identity theft (opens in new tab) lists more places to report, and how to protect your own registration.
